As I scroll down my news feed on facebook, my timeline on twitter and listen to the conversations between my friends, I've learned that 9 out 10 of my peers say that one of the most important things to them is money and getting money.
It saddens me to know that this is really how people prioritize. Whatever happened to God, Success, Morals, Happiness, Love, Health, or even Intelligence??? It is very true that in this world you need money to survive because almost nothing is free. BUT money isn’t everything and it shouldn’t be what is most important to you. If I were to lose all of my money, I would still have my Faith, Happiness, Love, and my Health. I don’t care what you may think but MONEY DOES NOT BUY HAPPINESS!! Because at the end of the day, the key to getting in heaven is NOT how much money you have or how much your clothes are worth. Love yourself as God loves you! HE doesn’t care if you don’t own polo. HE doesn’t care if your hair isn’t done. He doesn’t care if you can’t afford an iphone or a blackberry. Parents are going out spending more on school clothes than on school supplies but don’t have enough for tides and offerings this Sunday. Parents are more concerned with how "fresh" their kids are in school than if they are on the same reading level as the rest of the class. When I was in school, I didn’t have a lot of money; I didn’t have hottest clothes but... I stayed on the honor roll, I NEVER failed a class, and I stayed out of trouble. In my high school you needed 28 credits to graduate. I had 32 classes and graduated with 33.25 credits and it was thanks to God and my morals not money and clothes.
All I’m saying is get your priorities together. Life is too short and you shouldn’t live by other people’s standards. There are so many things in this world that have way more worth than any amount of money. God is Love...
